Turboprops such as the Pilatus PC-12 and Beechcraft King Air 200 cruise at around 270 to 290 knots in a pressurised cabin for six to eight passengers. On a short sector they arrive only a little after a jet would, for noticeably less money.

They also reach places jets cannot: shorter runways, smaller regional airfields and, in the case of the PC-12, grass strips. The Piaggio Avanti II is the exception that proves the rule, cruising at just over 400 knots — light-jet pace on turboprop running costs.
