Two aircraft, a big price gap

Athens is further than most people think, and the aircraft that suit it are the larger ones. We obtained these in October 2026.

AircraftSeatsIn the airFrom, one way
Citation XLS+Up to 94 hr£24,250 · the midsize choice, up to nine seats
Citation Sovereign+Up to 94 hr£33,975 · the super-midsize, with more range and a bigger hold

The price is for the whole aircraft, one way, with no UK VAT. The gap of about £10,000 between the two is real: the Sovereign+ is a bigger and more capable aircraft, but the XLS+ comfortably does the distance, so unless you want the space, the XLS+ is the choice. Easter, the summer weekends and the first week of September are the expensive dates.

Midsize against super-midsize

The Citation XLS+ takes up to nine, cruises at about 441 knots and has a 90 cubic foot hold; the flight takes about 4 hr. The Sovereign+ cruises at about 458 knots, has a 100 cubic foot hold and a cabin 5 feet 8 inches high, and takes about 4 hr. Both are well inside their range, so neither needs a fuel stop. The step up buys comfort, not distance. Midsize jets and super-midsize jets each have their own page.

Farnborough to the Attica coast

Farnborough’s opening hours, 07:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 20:00 at weekends, decide the shape of your day: Greece is two hours ahead, so a late-morning departure lands in the early evening. The Farnborough page has the airport facts and a chauffeur can meet you there. In Athens the general aviation terminal is on the north side of the airport, separate from the main terminal, open 24 hours, with customs and immigration on site, taking about 20 minutes from aircraft door to exit. The Athens page has the detail, and Charter-A.com adds an Athens guide. For the islands, the Greek islands page compares the airports, and by jet every Greek airport we cover is on one page.
